Podcast Phase One: Initializing Launch Sequence

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

The only thing going through my mind is, “Ok now that Ive announced to the world that I am going to be releasing an Internet marketing Podcast what in the heck do I do now?”.

My Thoughts Organized :

Make it Official : Press Release

Finalize a Game Plan : Mind Map (Freemind)

Write A Script : I will be using a past blog as a guide, the scrip will be casual and only used to keep me on track and time.

Mental and Physical Preparation : Don’t think this does not take mental prep time. I am not a pro in front of the camera and I am sure that most people reading this are not ether. Following is a list of things that I am doing to prepare, I am even going to list that things that I think are embarrassing.

  • Sit in front of the camera all day while I work
  • Record myself talking and take notes on playback
  • Practice in the mirror
  • Practice on location
  • Go Tanning, but not to much
  • Groom

Make a Video Intro : This is going to be professionally done to make up for the causal Podcast format.

Shoot the Video : Just using a standard mini DV camera. I do not image this would take more then one hour for just a final product of about 5 - 7 not including the intro (few extra seconds).

Put it all Together : I might just end up using Windows Movie Maker.

Finalize the Video : For me this will be setting up a private link to the video and showing it off to friends, family, and other professionals.

Release and Upload : I am going to upload the video to 30 video websites, a location that has RSS capabilities for Podcast directories, and submit to multiple Podcast directories like iTunes.

Market the Hell out of it : This is up to you, personally I might do a second smaller press release or announcement, Just submitting to all those video websites does a lot. You can also do an email campaign, Pay-per-click, Facebook Flyers, Feed Burner advertisements and/or a ton of other things. If you feel like being lazy for this part contact someone at Interloop Media for assistances.

How to Sign Up for Google Alerts

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

If you want to track your name, business, an investment, or anything else that might be appearing online then signing up for Google Alerts is your first step to make that happen. Google Alerts are emails that automatically notify you when Google has found a new item pertaining to your requested topic. If you or you own a business that gets press you need to be signing up for these. In my situation I have many clients that frequently add new content to the internet and get press that appears online in various ways. In other words Google Alerts is an essential tool for me.

Signing Up :

First : Search Google for “Google Alerts” select this link “Google Alerts” or goto http://www.google.com/alerts

After this it is pertly simple, following is an image of what you will see on the Google Alerts page.

Google Alerts

Search terms : Enter the word or phrase you want to track. If you are entering more then two (2) words I recomend added quotes i.e. “Brian McCullough” that way you will get only Brian and McCullough side by side and not a ton of emails with just “Brian” and then “McCullough” for something not regarding “Brian”.
Most of the time I will use multiple terms for one company, if a company is working with a specific type of technology or product then I will enter that too.

Type : I always go will comprehensive because I like to read blogs not ot mention blog are important to track as they hold a lot of weight in search engines. I use video when applicable.

How often : Well thats up to you, for investments I’d select as-it-happens for your own name I’d select once a day. Just remember your going to be getting emails from Google everyday.

Your email : Remember that after you create a Alert you will be required to conform the alert by opening a conformation email and selecting a link that will activate you Google Alerts, so don’t forget.

For more help visit the Google Alerts Help Page, they did a great job breaking Google Alerts done for us.
